As a child she was admitted to the hospital for six months before being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. His career as a skater with fellow countryman Denis Samokhin made him famous. In 1993, the pair finished 8th in a Junior World Championship. In 1994, they placed 7th. The pair briefly worked together along with Maxim Kachanov and they were then placed 5 at the 1994 Goodwill Games she then teamed together alongside Vladimir Fedorov in 1995. Both were successful with the partnership, as they both won the Finlandia Trophy and participated in the Grand Prix of Figure Skating. The partnership proved to be a huge success as they were able to accomplish greater results than they would have by themselves. But the most memorable part of the partnership came when they placed 15th overall at the World Championships 1998.
