Mary McDonnell

Mary McDonnell is a two-time Oscar(r)-nominated actress, recognized for her character portrayals in both contemporary and period screen roles, and an extensive history of screen and stage roles. Mary Eileen McDonnell was the daughter of John McDonnell (a computer consultant) and Eileen (Mundy) she was a Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania native. She was raised in Ithaca, New York, she graduated from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Fredonia. Then, she went to drama school and was admitted to the Long Wharf Theatre Company in East Coast. After a few decades she scored her first major film role, in Kevin Costner's Dances with Wolves (1990), playing "Stands with a Fist" as a white woman born to the Sioux Indians. The actress received her first Academy Award nomination for the character. McDonnell's film credits include Lawrence Kasdan's Grand Canyon (1991) & Mumford (1999) as well as opposite veteran actors like Robert Redford, Sidney Poitier and Ben Kingsley; Roland Emmerich’s Independence Day (1996) (starring Will Smith); the highly acclaimed art house hit Donnie Darko (192001) as well as Margin Call (2011). This won her the Robert Altman Awards at the 2012 Independent Spirit Awards. McDonnell was President Laura Roslin in the critically popular show Battlestar Galactica (2004) on Syfy. McDonnell was a star for four seasons. Her frequent guest appearance as host on the tv show ER (1994) was rewarded with an Emmy nomination. TNT's acclaimed drama series Major Crimes (2012) features McDonnell as Captain Sharon Raydor. This is the sequel to The Closer (2005) in which McDonnell played the character. She was nominated to win a Primetime Emmy(r). Her performance as a paraplegic soap opera in John Sayles' critically acclaimed film Passion Fish (1992) earned her a Best Actress Academy Award (r) nomination and an Academy Award nomination. Golden Globe nod.

Paget Valerie Brewster is an American actor, voice actress and singer. She was first recognized for her role as Kathy in the fourth season of NBC sitcom Friends but she was also an actor and singer.
